Description of Seminars
Arnold & Associates conducts semi-annual or more frequent Power Fundamentals Courses which assist Stationary/Power (O&M) Engineers in obtaining the 5th through the 1st Class Engineer License Certification by the NIULPE. These courses, offered at our offices in Roswell, GA, provide classroom coverage of basic algebra, DC electricity, physical Science, pumps, valves, HVAC/R, prime movers, steam generators (boilers), hot water boilers, and the associated auxiliaries.

We also conduct Advanced Course Seminars which further assist licensed candidates in obtaining the 2nd and 1st Class Engineer License.  All of the Power Engineer courses utilize our own custom study manual, which is a compilation of all the recommended study material advertised by the National Engineer Magazine (a NAPE publication).  The main difference in the Fundamentals Seminar versus the Advanced Seminar is AC electricity, piping layouts, integrated energy plant operations, and personnel supervision/management in an energy conversion environment.

All trainees are encouraged to pay well in advance so that the Training Manual can be picked up prior to the Seminar start date. This will give the Trainee advanced study time. The pace of the Seminar is such that at least two hours of home study are needed for each hour of Seminar coverage. Each trainee will need an inexpensive hand held scientific calculator to speed up the math portions of the Seminar. Training begins and ends at the above indicated start time. There will be only one (15 minute) break during the entire four-hour training period. All trainees are encouraged to grab a bite to eat prior to arriving at the A&A training facility. All classes are limited to 15 trainees. Sign up ASAP to assure that space is available. Send no cash with application. Checks or money orders, please. Paying via a credit card is not allowed. Arnold & Associates, Inc., (A&A), looks forward to your positive and timely reply. Thanks.

The cost of the Fundamentals Seminar is $1250.00 per Trainee. The cost for the Advanced Seminar is $1350.00 per Trainee. If a Trainee attending the Advanced Seminar has successfully completed the A&A Fundamentals Seminar, then the cost to that Trainee is $1200.00. An A&A Power Engineering Seminar Training Manual and other pertinent handouts are residuals for each Trainee to continue self-study for further advancement.

If you are unable to attend the regularly scheduled Seminar, but wish to purchase the training manual, you can contact us for details. The Seminar Training Manual is available for $150.00 plus $8.00 S&H.

All seminars for licensing are authorized and certified by the appropriate national professional organizations.  The power engineer seminars are endorsed, certified and authorized by the National Institute for the Uniform Licensing of Power Engineers (NIULPE) and endorsed by the GSANIULPE and the National Association of Power Engineers (NAPE).

Why Get Certified?
Currently, the US Government's General Services Administration (GSA), Department of Defense (DOD), Department of Energy (DOE), and the Federal EPA recognize and advocate the licensing of their central energy plant and facility O&M personnel to a minimum of the 4th Class Engineer level.  Many local and state wide hospitals, the CDC, schools, high rise building owners, etc., require their O&M personnel to be similarly licensed or higher.  This is done to reduce their insurance premiums and to provide their customers with qualified, safe, knowledgeable and efficient maintenance and operations support personnel.

The State of Georgia requires the Equipment Safety Inspectors to review documented and available qualified personnel who attend boilers, according to the revised boiler code working rules.  This requires a display of a Certificate of Authorization issues by the Chief Safety Inspector's Office under the Department of Labor.  These certificates are issues per standards qualifications prescribed by the Boiler & Pressure Vessel Technical Advisory Committee.  The NAPE and NIULPE have been informed that the 3rd Class Licensed Engineer or higher may meet the minimum standard.

Although the Federal EPA has not yet mandated certification of training of High Capacity Boiler Operators, it is a strong possibility that the mandate will occur.  The NIULPE has qualified through the Federal EPA to provide certification of same via its existing licensing program.  The level of NIULPE licensing may vary, depending on the size, configuration and fuel of the particular boiler.
